How to Use OK Google Efficiently

How to Use OK Google Efficiently

OK Google has been around for a while now. Most of us do not even use the feature and the ones who do use it, do not use it to its maximum potential. Well, there are a lot of things you could do with OK Google that you would be surprised to hear. Here in this article I have listed out a few things that you could use with OK Google.

First of all, you should make sure that you do have Google Now installed in your Android device. You need Google Now to get the OK Google feature. If you do not have it, get it from PlayStore. Google Now Launcher is available for Android 4.1 and above. You can access the OK Google feature bynjast saying OK Google or by tapping on the Microphone at the end of the Google search bar on your Android device. With the help of Gogole now, you can make voice searches over the internet rather than typing out what you want to search.

Call and Text People

You can call and send text messages by simply asking OK Google to do so. After queuing OK Google, all you have to say is Call Tom, to send a voice call to Tom or whoever it maybe. You can also send messages by just saying the magic words, Send Message to Tom and the Message editor opens. You can even dictate the text so that you do not have to type out anything.

Open Applications

Another amazing thing you can do with OK Google is you can open applications. This way you don’t have to browse through all your apps to open the app you want to. Just Google Now it. Open Music player is all you have to say to open the music player.

Navigate

No more fiddling about with Google Maps to get to a location. All OK Google needs is a command and hey presto OK Google will guide you to the nearest restaurant or library or hospital or wherever. You can also get the distance between places if you’re planning ahead for a trip. Or you could even ask for distance between you and the sun and you’d be surprised to see that OK Google will even answer that.

Create Events and Reminders

Create reminders and events just by saying ‘create appointment with Tom at 10:30’ or ‘remind me to pick up flower at 10 am’. You can also ask OK Google for your schedule for this week too. I bet you didn’t know about this.

Get Meanings

Say you’re reading a book and you come up on a word that you don’t hear often. What do you do? OK Google it. Just OK Google for the word. “Meaning of presto” will get you the meaning for presto.

Check Weather

Planning to go for a picnic to a far off place? Want to know how the weather is there right now? OK Google it. You don’t have to ask direct questions like “What will be the weather tomorrow?”.  “Will I need an umbrella tomorrow?” will give the rain forecast for tomorrow.

Image Search

You probably already know this. For the people who do not know, you can also do an image search from OK Google.” Images of Crocodile” and see your screen full of crocodiles.

Send Email

This is similar to sending Texts using OK Google which I have mentioned on top. Just say send an email to Tom or whoever and the email editor opens up and if you want you can even dictate what you want to send.

Open specific Settings options

Say, if you want t turn on your Wi-Fi, you can just ask Google Now to turn your Wi-Fi on. Similarly you can turn you flashlight on or go to flight mode and what not.
These are just a few of many things you can do with OK Google. You can create notes, do calculations, unit conversions, do a voice search on anything, get match scores, and get match schedules and so many other things. Have you ever fallen in love? You will, once you start using OK Google.
