Steps of Split PST Working

Step 1: Download the software and install it successfully. Launch the software and then in order to choose the splitting operation for PST file click on Split.

Step 2: Next window will let you choose the Outlook file format as ANSI or Unicode by choosing the version of MS Outlook application (MS Outlook 2000 & 2002) or (MS Outlook 2003 and above). Choice can be made as per the version of the PST file.

Step 3: Next comes the Split option and the categories for the splitting, which can be used as per the requirement of user. There are four Split options: Split by Size, Split by Date, Split by Year, and Split by Folder.

Split by Size: Software allows users to divide the Outlook PST file based on size of the PST file. In case you have PST file of 4 GB, then you can create PST files of 1 GB each by logically dividing the email data to four files. This is an important and helpful division for extremely large files.

Split by Date: As the name of this type of division suggests, this Split by date divides the data according to the specified date by the user. The software will create two PST files one with email data belonging to dates prior that date and another with data belonging to after that date.

Split by Year: In case you want email data divided according to different years, this option is suitable for you. You have to provide a range of years like; 2004-2009 and separate PST files for each year belonging to this range will be created.

Split by Folder: Separate PST files for each folder will be created like: Inbox, Sent, etc. Thus, the email data belonging to different folders can be maintained. A size limit can also be provided so that the PST file automatically is split when this limit exceeds.

Step 4: Once the category of splitting is chosen, another window opens where you have to browse and add the PST file and perform the other additional settings with respect to the category chosen. For instance if you have chosen Split by size, you will have to provide the size in MB after which the file is supposed to be split.

Step 5: Select the destination of the folder by clicking on Browse and navigating it to the location where you want to save the output PST files. Click Next.

Step 6: A report will be generated about the details provided for the split.

Result: The PST files with the divided data stored in it will be saved to the destination location provided. These files can be imported to the MS Outlook application to check the data is available and divided maintaining the technical properties or not.
