
With the all new Smart Lock feature, you can unlock your Chromebook with your Android smartphone. You do not have to enter the password to unlock the Chromebook. With an Android smartphone running the latest Android Lollipop OS and a Chromebook, you can easily setup the Smart Lock feature. After setting up the Smart Lock feature, you can unlock a Chromebook with just having an Android phone nearby. The procedure to setup the Smart Lock feature is mentioned below.
- Chrome OS version 40 and above supports the Smart Lock feature. To make sure you have the latest OS, go to Settings and select About Chrome OS.
- After updating, sign into your account.
- Then click on your profile picture. Select Settings and then Show Advanced Settings.
- Scroll down till you find the section titled Smart Lock. Select the Setup Smart Lock button.
Make sure the Android device is nearby. After following the above steps, you will be asked to verify that you are the one requesting for the Smart Lock feature by logging into your Google account. The Android device should have Bluetooth enabled and it should be logged into the same Google account.
After performing all these steps, Smart Lock feature will be enabled and now you will be able to unlock your Chromebook with your Android smartphone nearby.
