In the year of 2014, we have seen a lot of smartphones. Many came and went leaving very little trace. But some of them stayed and left a mark in this smartphone era. These phones dominated today’s smartphone world. I have listed out a few of these smartphones that are ruling the smartphone world.
1. iPhone 6 Plus

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are the latest versions of
iPhones released by Apple. The iPhone 6 Plus is really big with a 5.5 inches
screen, as big as a tablet. Well we could say that it is more of a phablet than
a phone. The screen is not only big but also bright and high contrast. The
screen is also shatter proof. And the battery too is bigger in size meaning
more battery life. It supports 3g and 4g networks. And it also has the TouchID
feature as seen on the iPhone 5S which enables you to unlock the iPhone 6 Plus
with the touch of your finger. It comes with 1GB RAM and in 16/32/64 GB
variations. It also has an 8 MP rear
camera and 1.2 MP front cameras which lets you take high quality pictures and
videos. It runs on a dual core 1.4 GHz
processor which makes it one of the best smartphones in the world. It also
supports the latest iPhone OS, iOS 8.
2. Xperia Z3

The latest phone in the flagship Xperia Z series by Sonia, Xperia Z3 is the best smartphone the company has released in 2014. Like the previous Xperia Z phones, the Z3 also has waterproof capabilities, much better than the previous versions. It is also bigger than the previous versions with a screen size of 5.2 inches. It also supports 4g network. It comes with a 3 GB RAM and is available in 16/32 GB internal memory variations. The smartphone runs on a 2.5 GHz quad-core processor. The memory can be extended up to 128 GB using a micro SD. It also supports multi touch feature (up to ten fingers). It sports a 20.7 MP (5248 Ñ… 3936 pixels, autofocus, and LED flash) primary camera which gives you good clarity photos and videos and a 2.2 MP secondary camera to take good selfies. Xperia Z3 also has a better battery life than its predecessors. The smartphone will get the latest android version Lollipop soon.
3. LG G3

The release of G3 by LG has put the company back on top. It has an amazing design and it comfortably fits in your hands, regardless of the size. The LG G3 has a metallic back instead of shiny plastic as seen on LG G2. The power and volume buttons are found at the back. Unlike the previous version the G3 has a removable battery as well as a Micro SD card slot. It also supports high LTE data speeds which make surfing the internet a breeze. It runs on a Quad-core 2.5 GHz processor and the smartphone comes in two variants- a 16GB internal memory along with 2 GB RAM version and a 32GB internal memory with 3GB Ram version. The cameras on the LG G3 are top class- a 13 MP rear camera and a 2.1 MP front camera. It also sports the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is completely scratch proof. It has a similar UI like its predecessor but much better and runs on the Android KitKat.
4. iPhone 6

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus was released together by Apple
this year. The iPhone 6 has more features packed than its predecessor. But
there is no improvement in the battery life though. The battery has poor life
like the iPhone 5s but has more memory capabilities, better wireless
connectivity, better camera and the best OS there is. It sports a 4.7 inch
screen but they could have made it bigger considering the space lest in the
body casing. It comes in three variants- a 16 GB, a 64GB and 128 GB version and
all three versions have 1 GB RAM and runs on a 1.4 dual-core processor. The
camera on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are similar- 8 MP camera at the front and a
1.2 MP camera at the back. Yes there are
Android smartphones with better performance, less costly, better memory
capabilities and better battery lives but this is the best iPhone that has ever
been released and along with the new iOS 8, anyone who takes a look at it wants
to buy it.
5. HTC One M8

The HTC One M8 is another best-selling phone that was
released this year. The design is extremely sexy and makes anyone fall in love
with it. A smartphone made for kings. It has an extremely lovely all-aluminum
body just like its predecessor and a curved backing. It sports a 5 inch screen
with a crystal clear display. The Corning Gorilla Glass 3 makes the screen
scratch proof. It has 2 GB of RAM and it the smartphone comes in two variants –
16GB and 32 GB versions. The memory can be extended using a Micros SD card (up
to 128 GB). The HTC One M8 has 4 MP dual lenses on its back and a 5 MP selfie
camera. It runs on a Quad core 2.3 GHz processor and it runs on Android KitKat.
A disadvantage is that the battery is non-removable.
6. OnePlus One

The phone known as the “flagship” killer has excellent
performance and high end hardware specifications at a relatively lower price.
It supports a 5.5 inch screen and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection making the
screen scratch proof. It has 3GB of RAM and comes in a 16 GB and 32 GB version.
It runs on a Quad core 2.5 GHz processor making it more powerful than most of
the flagship phones out there. It sports a 13 MP rear camera and a 5MP front
camera. It runs on Android KitKat. An amazing phone at an unbelievable price!
7. Blackberry Passport
Blackberry was out of the picture for a while and with their
latest phone the Blackberry Passport, they have made a comeback. It is a bit
small when compared to other smartphones. It has a different look when compared
to the other Blackberry smartphones. The standout feature of the phone is its
keyboard. Not only can you use it as a keyboard, you can also use it as a
touchpad. It runs on a Quad-core 2.26 GHz processor and 3 GB RAM. It has an
internal memory of 32 GB and can be extended using a Micro SD card (up to 128
GB). It sports a 13 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front-facing camera. But the
price is a bit high.
These are some of the best smartphones released this year. So
if you are planning on getting a top class phone, make sure you go through the
phones listed above before making your decision.
