Photography has become a “thing” now with the easy availability of good DSLR cameras. Even people who do not even have a single clue about photography can be seen with a DSLR strapped around their necks. Some take it up as a hobby while others practice photography as a profession. But little do they know when it comes to choosing the right Digital SLR camera. DSLR cameras give out better quality images, gives you more settings and offers faster performance than point-and-shoot cameras. With a wide variety of DSLR cameras out there waiting to be bought, how do you choose the right one for your needs?
The following are the important factors that you should consider before buying a DSLR camera:
1. Price
DSLR cameras are available in low-end models to high-end ones. Make sure that you get a camera that fits your budget. it’ll be wise if you have saved a lot of money beforehand considering you may want to buy other parts as well(like lenses, etc.).
2. Use
Another thing you should consider is, for what you would use the camera for or in what occasions you would use it mostly. Whether it is for shooting school events or family events, getting the right camera for the right purpose is an important factor. For instance, if you need to shoot videos of occasions like a wedding you will need a DSLR that supports HD recording.
3. Megapixels
The megapixel value tells you how big image can be caught without having to be digitally enlarged. But practically you won’t need to get very big pictures. Even professional photographers get cameras in the range 16-18 pixels.
4. Auto-Focus
Another important feature of DSLR cameras is the auto focus pointers. The number of pointers is not important but instead, how they are spread in the screen is important. It’s better if you don’t get a camera where they are concentrated at the center.
5. Lens
Getting a good lens for your camera would be a good idea. Better the lens, better the image quality. Professionals usually spend a lot of money on getting good lenses.
6. Optical Viewfinder
Optical Viewfinders show exactly what is seen by the lens. You’ll get images exactly like you see them. Make sure your camera has a viewfinder installed.
7. Aperture
Aperture range is the amount of light that is passed through a lens. Lens having low aperture value gives a good depth of field. Aperture range should also be given importance along with starting aperture value. Else, while zooming you won’t get the desired quality.
8. Sensor size
A camera with a bigger image sensor should be more preferred than one with a smaller image sensor. So choose a camera with a good sensor.
Other factors like storage, battery , etc also should be taken into account before getting yourself a DSLR camera. So get the right DSLR and start clicking some awesome snaps.
