Google to Launch Android TV

Google to launch Android TV

Even though Google’s first television, Google TV was a disappointment, the internet giant has not given up on their television idea. There were rumors of an Android TV being made by Google. The rumors were confirmed to be true and the Android TV is making its way to the world! Google is expecting to make a comeback with the new Google Android TV. The Android TV is report to be released on late June 2014.

In a recent report made by GigaOM, they said that Google is planning to unveil the new television to the world during the I/O 2014 Developer Conference which is scheduled to happen during the 25th and 26th of June.

The fault with the Google TV was that it was made to function like an oversized Android smartphone. But the Android TV is completely made to make television experience better where you can watch movies, use apps and play games.

The Android TV will be featuring a new interface called “Pano” to browse through individual content displayed in a card like fashion. "Content will be presented in a series of cards that can be browsed horizontally, and each movie or TV show episode has deep links into publisher's apps, giving users the option to start playback right away," GigaOM's Janko Roettgers said. "That's different from the traditional smart TV experience, where users generally first have to launch an app from a publisher, and then browse that apps catalog before they can play a title." Google’s Android TV is very much similar to the recently released Amazon’s Fire TV.

The Android TV also wants to make access to content easy and simple; easy search, easy navigation, recommend movies, in short it wants to give a comfortable experience to the viewers. The TV will also be able to link with your phone; it will be able to resume what you were watching when the TV is turned on. It was also reported to support YouTube, Hangouts, Play Movies, and also third party applications like Netflix and Hulu.

Will it also not flourish like the Google TV? Google is willing to the risk with Android TV. Planning to start simple, Google has avoided smartphone feature like camera, touch screen, etc. and just wants to improve TV watching experience just like Amazon’s Android-based Fire TV. Let us wait and see if Google’s idea of bringing a big screen Android to the living room will or will not be a huge success.
