When you’re travelling, you may end up in locations that have bad network coverage and you may not be able to use the internet smoothly. Such situations will sometimes get you a bit irritated. Well, fear not because Facebook has a solution. Facebook has introduced a means to locate free Wi-Fi hotspots in your locality.
Facebook has been testing this
feature in selected areas and has finally rolled out the feature globally. This
feature can help you when you’re travelling or if you have run out of mobile
data or if you just need to find a place with internet connectivity. The app
does not bring up all business places that provide free Wi-Fi. They show
businesses that have a Facebook page. This feature is available to both Android
and iOS.
To start using this feature
update your Facebook app to the latest version. Open the Facebook app. Mind
you, the Wi-Fi locating feature is only available in the main Facebook app and
not the Lite version. You can find the “Find Wi-Fi” feature in the Explore
section in the iOS version of the app and in the Apps section in the Android
version. Facebook will ask you to grant it Location access and you’re all set
to go. You will get the list of all nearby places where there is free Wi-Fi
available. The app also has a map view (which will help you in getting the
directions to the place) and a list view.
Setting up free hotspots is a
good way to promote businesses. Most people prefer to go to places where there
is Wi-Fi. When you are waiting for the food you order, or waiting for your kids
to finish shopping, you would definitely want to kill the time browsing the
internet. This feature can be really helpful if you need to find a place with
free Wi-Fi. And businesses should start Facebook pages if they want potential
customers to know that your business place has free Wi-Fi to offer.
